Andy Clarke

Andy ClarkeAndy Clarke has been called a lot of things since he started working on the web ten years ago. His ego likes words like “ambassador for CSS”, “industry prophet” and “inspiring”, but actually he is most proud that Jeffrey Zeldman once called him a “(triple talented) bastard”.

Andy took ten months of his life to write the best-selling Transcending CSS: The Fine Art of Web Design, but his passion is amazing web design. He loves designing for the web, writing about design, and teaching it at workshops and conferences all over the world.

Now he is pulling all of those passions together to create For A Beautiful Web, a unique series of web design master classes that cover topics including visual design and best-practice use of technologies.

Remy Sharp

Remy SharpRemy Sharp is a developer, speaker, blogger, author of upcoming jQuery for Designers (Manning) and contributing author to The jQuery Cookbook and co-author of Introduction to HTML5 (O’Reilly and New Riders), and most recently a conference organiser: Full Frontal JavaScript Conference. Remy started in web development 10 years ago as the sole developer for a finance web site, and as such, was exposed to all aspects running the web site during, and long after, the dotcom boom.

Contributing author to HTML5 Doctor, developer of JS Bin, HTML5 Demos, Snap Bird (JavaScript driven twitter search tool), jQuery team member and evangelist and developer on a fistful of other JavaScript related apps. Yep, Remy loves his JavaScript and he’s keen as mustard to share it with other developers and designers alike.

Dom Hodgson

Dom HodgsonDom Hodgson is an SEO, Blogger, Podcaster, Conference Organiser and award winning singer songwriter. He spends his days working with clients on SEO campaigns, affiliate strategy, developing his latest idea (he tends to have lots of these) and playing TF2. He also runs the Think Visibility and Think Startups series of conferences.

Ben Childs

Ben ChildsAs Experience Director at Common Agency, Ben loves the variety of the stuff he picks up… from wireframing a mobile user experience whilst simultaneously trying to improve his iPhone development skills, to chopping up a design in Fireworks whilst tweaking some PHP and learning a new CSS technique. All with a healthy dose of the usual agency stuff such as client management, pitching, brainstorming, sometimes compromising on super amazing design ideas, panicking when servers do odd things at unhelpful times, occasionally blogging or tweeting, etc.

Common Agency are a small but skilled digital team with a broad range of clients – sometimes big brands and sometimes small unknowns – across web and mobile. Ben’s digital background is in mobile, having worked for the past decade on stuff such as wireless greetings for Hallmark and mobile internet services for Orange. After continually hearing “this is the year for mobile”, he feels 2009 was a breakthrough for mobile awareness and innovation, and is excited about what lies ahead in 2010.

Ben’s a relative newbie to the conference circuit, though after years in the corporate environment is as happy in front of a bunch of slides as anyone. And if that fails, he can easily chat about mountain biking, real ale and organic gardening.
